What AutoCAD Is
AutoCAD is a CAD program, designed for architectural, industrial, and mechanical design, and drafting, among other things. AutoCAD is known for its ease of use, its large feature set, and its easy customization options. The software’s use is not limited to CAD. AutoCAD is used to create 2D and 3D graphics, to animate graphics, to animate engineering solutions, to create videos, and to perform parametric modeling. A broad range of AutoCAD features and benefits enable users to quickly produce high-quality drawings. These features include drawing, drafting, modeling, creating, and altering objects, materials, colors, and linetypes, and working with dimensions, solids, and views. These features are facilitated by advanced workspace management tools, such as snap-to, snap points, snap lines, snap to point, and snap to face. There are also tasks such as converting linetypes, such as 2D line, text, or solid, into another linetype, such as 3D surfaces, solids, or hatch patterns. You can also trace, copy, move, and duplicate objects; text and dimensions; and create palettes, layers, and windows.
AutoCAD is a desktop program that is either sold as a stand-alone application (on a CD or DVD disk or as part of an AutoCAD package) or can be downloaded and used over the Internet. The Autodesk website says that „AutoCAD is the world’s leading 2D drafting software, providing everything a 2D architect needs to design for the world around us.“
AutoCAD’s primary focus is drafting, or creating two-dimensional drawings. (A „draft“ is the equivalent of a rough drawing, the first stage of design, which is then drawn on paper or other media in the next stage, the „drawing.“) The program has many tools that enable you to create plans, elevations, and sections, draft architectural details, create architectural blueprints, and create a variety of other drawings.
AutoCAD has many features that assist in the production of these drawings. For example, you can quickly create objects on a 2D or 3D surface. You can create a 3D object by using a 3D part and 2D planes to create 2D views. You can also use the command window to manipulate and animate objects.

2D CAD, 3D CAD
AutoCAD is capable of performing 2D and 3D vector drawing and drafting (2D, 3D), 2D and 3D CAD-based modeling (2D, 3D), and 2D and 3D modeling of objects (2D, 3D).
2D drafting and CAD
2D drafting is an editing task of creating visual representations of objects. These visual representations are created using software applications called CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software applications. As their name implies, these applications help make the design and construction of things easier and more efficient through the use of computers. Autodesk’s AutoCAD, an example of such CAD software application, does this through the use of drawing files that define a 2D representation of objects. These drawing files, like any other drawing file, are created using applications called CAD applications. These CAD applications, like any other CAD application, are used to edit the drawing files that define the objects.
AutoCAD’s 2D CAD is the application’s native 2D CAD mode, and is not available in 3D (true 3D) mode. In 2D CAD, the user draws and edits objects on a two-dimensional plane. Objects are stored in the drawing file in 2D, which allows them to be edited and viewed in two dimensions.
If a drawing file contains multiple objects, they are displayed in separate windowed areas of the drawing interface. A window is created around each object, and the user can move, edit, and delete objects within their respective window area.
Users can view the drawing file as an image, edit objects, or view the objects in a side-by-side edit-view window. Objects are drawn in various colors to indicate their type: text, lines, arcs, and circles.
Saving drawing files
A user can save drawings in AutoCAD using the following methods:
Save As (File → Save As…),
Save (File → Save),
Save As is the most common method of saving drawings in AutoCAD.
Save as a new file in a location chosen by the user is easy, but if you intend to use the same file name repeatedly in a workflow, Save (File → Save) can be much more useful. Save will write the file to a specific directory on your computer, not to the directory containing the drawing. The drawing can then be reloaded from that location. In most cases

Unable to use Case-insensitive collation in Oracle
I am trying to use a case-insensitive collation in a select statement, but it is not working. I am using Oracle 12.2.
select id, name from mytable where name =’myName‘ collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AI
I am getting this error.
ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
I do not understand what I am doing wrong.
You can use the NLS_SORT parameter to indicate the ordering:
select id, name
where name =’myName‘
order by lower(name);
This works because the case-insensitive ordering is always an ASCII sort, so there is nothing to convert the names to lower case. The lower function is required, but the column must be non-null.

What’s New in the AutoCAD?
Add import and import/export to imported datasets and files, to speed the flow of information. (video: 3:40 min.)
Record and playback updates made to your model, so you don’t have to remember the edits when you’re ready to share your model. (video: 1:41 min.)
Use a drag-and-drop interface to replace complex command line commands, such as create with format, with simpler, faster commands.
Advanced Snap modes:
Keep the design simple and quick with large-type snap options.
Don’t fight the design with a small-type snap option and hard-to-find snap options.
New Placement guides:
Eliminate hand-cutting to create a more automated placement of objects.
Quickly place the object, regardless of the type of object you’re placing.
Automatic filter placement:
Filter content from the design, so you only see the content you need to work on.
Get more with AutoCAD:
Draw complex and parametric shapes:
Simplify the drawing workflow with the new “Move, rotate, and resize” and “Draw over” commands. (video: 1:43 min.)
Create reusable blocks:
Create simple, well-organized blocks for reuse in your drawing, instead of drawing a complex block again and again. (video: 1:51 min.)
Replace AutoCAD’s most-used commands:
Simplify command line, drawing, and feature selection using AutoLISP commands.
Create custom commands:
Expose the most used commands to AutoLISP and AutoCAD. (video: 1:36 min.)
Eliminate the “press and hold” method of command selection, as well as old methods like “press and release” and “select and move.”
